Description

Appearance:
The star fruit plant is a multi-stemmed tree with a short trunk and a bushy, rounded crown. Its leaves are pinnate, typically with 5-11 leaflets. The flowers are small, pink to purple, and borne in clusters. 
Fruit:
The fruit is oval or oblong, turning yellow when ripe, and has a distinctive star shape when sliced crosswise. It's known for its juicy, crunchy texture and a flavor that can range from sweet to sour, depending on the variety and ripeness. 
Growing Conditions:
Star fruit plants thrive in sunny locations with well-draining, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5 to 6.5). They prefer tropical and subtropical climates and are sensitive to frost.

It is also known as carambola, or five-corner. 
Uses:
The fruit can be eaten fresh, used in jams and preserves, or cooked as a vegetable. Star fruit is also a source of vitamins A, C, and B-complex.
